7 Day Detox: Reboot Your Body In One Week
7 Day Detox
Look up “7 day detox” on Google and you will read pretty much the same thing. “Avoid this,” “Only eat this,” “Limit this,” starve yourself and drink water for a week… However, that won’t help you detox. Today I’m going to reveal a 7 day detox program that will reboot the body and rejuvenate the mind! Read on…
Yes, There are Things to Avoid
Sugar, artificial sweeteners, and honey
Finally, (SORRY!) avoid Alcohol
You can avoid alcohol for one week, right? Let’s hope so! Ok, moving on…
Good Things to Fill You Up
Fresh, raw fruits and vegetables.
Be sure to include plenty of greens: Kale, spinach, parsley, swiss chard, romaine or green leaf lettuce. Dietitians like to tell you to “eat the rainbow.” This just means to choose a variety of differently colored fruits and vegetables each day.
Wake up with a mug of hot water and lemon. It will get you going better than a cup of coffee, and it’s healthier, too! Hungry? Have an apple. It will give you a boost of energy and fiber.
Choose quinoa, barley, brown rice, whole wheat bread and tortillas.
Skip the red meat (or limit it to twice a week!). Try plant-based proteins like beans, soy (tofu), and lentils. When you eat meat, go for lean chicken breast, lean turkey, and trim off any excess fat that you can see.
What to Drink?
Drink LOTS of Water. Lemon water or other fruit-and/or-veggie-infused water, herbal teas, and green tea (all unsweetened) are great, too.
Eat several small meals as opposed to three large meals every day. This will help keep your blood glucose levels steady and boost your metabolism.
Here is a sample meal plan to help you get some ideas.
Breakfast: 1 cup oatmeal with flaxseeds, berries and chia
1 cup unsweetened almond milk or soy milk
8 oz hot water with lemon
Snack: 1 small apple
Lunch: 1 cup spinach, 1 cup kale, 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds (raw), ½ cup strawberry slices, ½ chopped orange bell pepper
2 tbsp lemon vinaigrette (recipe HERE, just leave out the sugar!)
Blueberry-Mint Infused Water
Snack: Carrots and Cucumber sticks with Hummus
Dinner: 4 oz salmon with lemon and avocado
1 cup quinoa and kale salad (Recipe HERE)
¾ cup mixed fruit salad (melon, grapes, blueberries)
This is just an example of a clean, healthy daily menu. You can pick and choose the things that you enjoy eating, as long as they are fresh and not processed or refined. For a guide on clean eating, check out one of my other blogs HERE.
Step 2: The Smoothies
Once you get used to eating fresh, healthy foods (the first 2 days should be enough), the next step is to transition to drinking smoothies for two meals a day. THIS website has some great, delicious detox smoothie recipes.
You can drink smoothies for breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner, or breakfast and dinner. Whatever is most convenient for you. Just make sure you eat healthy and clean for the other meal and use fresh fruits and vegetables for between-meal snacks.
To make sure you’re getting enough protein, use a plant-based protein powder in your smoothies. There are several high-quality plant-based protein powders that you can find at your local health food store. Look for Pea protein, Whey protein, or Hemp protein.
The End of the Week
Once you have been drinking smoothies for 4-5 days, you should be feeling much better. You should have more energy and be feeling refreshed. Don’t be sad, however. You don’t have to stop after seven days!
If you want to keep feeling great, you can continue eating this way as long as you like. You don’t have to continue replacing meals with smoothies if you don’t want to, but the general principal of clean eating can really keep you feeling amazing.
You can also add supplements to your diet, such as Bioterra Herbs’ Detox…AHHH supplement. It is All-Natural, Vegan, non-GMO certified, and based on Traditional Chinese Medicine.
