It’s the end of the year, dudes! 2014 has come and gone, and not without its awesomeness and epic quirks. Before we head into the New Year, let’s take a look back at some of the most random, yet entertaining, things that happened this year across the country.
August, in the midst of summer 12 proud citizens of Cormorant, Minnesota elected a new mayor! 7 year old Pyrenean Mountain dog, DUKE! He may be the COOLEST mayor in history of ever.
Early in the year of 2014, the country actually ran out of velveeta cheese! RAN. OUT. OF. CHEESE! How is this even possible? The highly processed cheese food company simply didn’t have enough in stock. They had no real explanation and left cheese lovers around the states to scrounge for the orange stuff until their stock was replenished.
Dumb Starbucks LA
In February, Dumb Starbucks opened in Los Angeles, California and it was open for a whole weekend. They gave out free coffee, but the wait was crazy. People actually stood in line for hours on end to get a drink from Dumb Starbucks. This hilarious brilliance was an epic stunt put on by comedian Nathan Fielder for his new show. Overnight, this parody coffee house became a top news story known around the world. Kudos, Nathan.
Meta Maculay Culkin
That one time when the world got super meta and Maculay Culkin wore a t-shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a t-shirt of Maculay Culkin.
Zach Brown of Columbus, Ohio raised $55,000 on kickstarter to make potato salad! That’s a lot of taters!
Rhode Island Wins
The Pew Research Center came out with a study that announced Rhode Island as the winner of the Most Immature Men in the United States! RI ranked 2nd in still playing beer pong, 3rd in being unemployed, 12th in still playing video games and 24th in still playing Fantasy Football! Wow! Uh, congrats?
