How many hours of sleep should someone get?
The number of hours of sleep a person should be getting depends on their age range. Are you getting enough sleep? Sleep is essential in our life since we spend the other half of our day sleeping. Make sure you are getting the right amount of sleep!
Newborns (0-3 months old): 14-17 hours
Infants (4-11 months old): 12-15 hours
Toddlers (1-2 years old): 11-14 hours
Preschoolers (3-5 years old): 10-13 hours
Elementary Kids (6-12 years old): 9-11 hours
Teenagers (13-17 years old): 8-10 hours
Young adults (18-25 years old): 7-9 hours
Adults (26-64 years old): 7-9 hours
Older adults (65 years old and up): 7-8 hours
Can you live off with only 6 hours of sleep for adults?
Each person is different, but adults may find themselves getting only 5-6 hours of sleep. You may not be getting the full rest, but you may be able to function the next day!
Is it bad to sleep too much?
Doing it every so often isn’t bad, but oversleeping may be bad for your health. You may find yourself feeling fatigued because you over-rested.
Sleeping too much can be considered sleeping over 9 hours. This happens often due to an inconsistent sleep pattern the day before.
Oversleeping may also increase the risk of strokes, heart disease, and diabetes.
How do you know if you are getting enough sleep or oversleeping?
Feeling energetic throughout the day without feeling fatigued? Not depending on energy drinks or coffee? You are probably getting the right amount!
If you are feeling exhausted, depending on drinks, dizzy, etc, you are probably sleep deprived.
Have a headache when you wake up, have low energy, feel a weight gain? You are probably sleeping too much!
