Tips And Tricks To Help Achieve Deep Sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep isn’t really that challenging, there are many things you can do to improve your sleeping habits. Just like eating healthy or adding new foods into your diet, you can add these tips into your sleeping routine to give you a more enjoyable experience. Like when you start exercising, you are gradually going to see changes over time.
Create A Sleep Schedule
You want to be going to sleep around the same time every night, yes this includes weekends. This helps your body acclimate to a sleeping schedule. Eventually your body will get used to going to sleep at this time. In return everyday around the time you set, your body will make it easier for you to fall asleep. You can also try using a sleeping log, a sleeping log allows you to keep track of the hours you’re getting. This gives you an easier way to view your sleeping patterns. Here is an example of a sleeping log. You don’t necessarily need to use something like this, but you do get an idea of what a sleeping log looks like. Filling it up accordingly as your week goes by, allows you to see any patterns in the way you sleep. As a point of reference adults typically need around 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. So make sure you’re getting your hours!
Yes I said exercise. Exercising daily can improve your sleep! don’t believe me? When you go have a work out your body temperature increases, so once your workout is done the drop in body temperature may help you fall asleep by making you feel relaxed. It also reduces insomnia because it decreases anxiety and depression symptoms since exercise is a form of stress relieve. You do have to be careful with your workouts though, stay away from vigorous exercise like extensive running or lifting weights. Moderate to relaxed exercise is recommended in the afternoon or evening for best results.
Your Mattress And Pillows
A lot of people don’t realize that a mattress has a lifespan, about 9 years to be exact. This means that an old mattress isn’t going to do you any good, make sure you keep your mattress up to date. Having a mattress that has good back support is highly recommended. Not only can your mattress affect your deep sleep but your pillows too. Make sure you have sufficient pillows and none of those $10 walmart pillows! You need actual pillows designed specifically for a better sleeping experience.
Many people can’t fall asleep at night because they are either thinking about falling asleep or just thinking in general. This could be a huge dilemma because your mind is trying to relax but you’re not allowing it to. It is recommended to try and distract yourself in any way such as watching tv or going into another room so you can clear your mind and try to relax. You can do word searches or crossword puzzles. Only use your bed for sleep and sex, as your body notices what the bed is actually for it communicates that once you lay down it’s time for bed.
Still having trouble?
If you’re still having trouble sleeping I recommend consulting a doctor about talking to a sleep professional as you may have a sleeping disorder.
