What are superfoods?
Superfoods are mostly plant-based foods, along with some fish and some dairy products, that carry large amounts of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals. Furthermore, these foods will keep your blood sugar steady and assist in triggering “feel good” chemicals in your brain. Uniquely, superfoods also have the ability to change your metabolism, brain chemistry, and affect your energy and mood levels.
Superfoods To Try:
First, blueberries contain energy boosting carbs, vitamins A and C, magnesium and fiber. Second, they are loaded with antioxidants. For example, the nutrients found in blueberries block the buildup of free radicals. Consequently, this can provide the system with immunity boosts and lower depressive symptoms. Also, this helps you recover from stress.
Salmon contains inflammatory Omega-3’s fatty acids that improve heart health. Also a great source of protein, doctors recommend you eat salmon at least twice a week to receive full benefits. Dietary intake of salmon also reduces depressive symptoms and boosts metabolism.
Similarly to salmon, this fruit (yes, it’s a fruit!) is one of the healthy fats (Omega-3’s). Avocados contain fiber, potassium, and vitamins A and E. The “good fat” called alpha-linolenic acid improves heart health.
Another healthy addition to your diet is Kale. This leafy green vegetable is full of beneficial nutrients like calcium, vitamin C and A, potassium, and iron, and it is low in calories.
According to Chinese medicine, you can eat Goji Berries to improve energy levels and lower stress. You can eat these bright orange-red berries raw, cooked, or dried.
